Okay so no...I don't look happy but then again there is very little happiness found in the arduous task of cleaning and re-organizing one's closet.
Lets just say that I do enjoy order but find it very difficult to keep it when it comes to my closet space. In the blink of an eye, my well organized clothing looks as if a fashion hurricane hit it and then a following style tornado decided to join in on the party. Unfortunately, despite the end result, it has to be done occasionally. Especially when I know I just did laundry but can't seem to find my 10 pairs of work leggings at 6 AM in the morning. But this post isn't just to rant and rave about the wows of closet cleaning but rather to discuss a few revelations.
- I don't wear jeans anymore....
Everyday used to be a day for denim and I had about 30 pairs I would rotate through. However this Fall and probably throughout this past Spring I have noticed that they very rarely came up and out of the bottom drawers of my wardrobe. As I re-discovered these two drawers I found myself becoming extremely angry at myself for buying way to many pairs of Under $10 jeans from Forever 21 that do not fit right and way to many colored denim that I probably only bought because of the "pretty" color....and most likely they were on sale. Which leads me to my second revelation.
- I no longer can buy because of the deal....
I am most definitely a bargain shopper and if a great deal is to be had, I want it. This leads to tons of unnecessary purchases that sit in my closet for months....years even....with tags on and a future that will never include seeing the light of day. I do enjoy the art of shopping (which probably won't change) but, no longer will I allow it to eat away at my limited shopping funds. Stricter rules are in the process of being of applied to all purchases so that what I buy will be worn and is truly desired. Leading me to my next revelation...
- I desire more dresses and skirts...
Not just any ol' ones but flowy ones and printed ones and mini ones. In particular I don't really see a lot of color in my fancy closet (yes I do have closet deemed the fancy closet that pretty much houses the dresses and jackets and other fanciful wares). My job requires an all black attire and I feel that, although I truly love the NY state of mind coloring, it has greatly affected the diversity in my wardrobe...down to the shoes. I have over 10 pairs of some version of black shoes and well..they all pretty much go with the same things. I want to wear dresses and every time I go to my closet I am let down :(
- Lastly, I have way to many t-shirts...
And not just any t-shirt, oh no that would be normal, I have way to many white t-shirts. I believe I counted over 30 plain white t-shirts that probably were past their expiration date some time last year. I have no clue why I hung on to them for so long but I vaguely remember a period where white tee/jeans was a common look for me. I searched and searched for a great white t-shirt and when I found one I liked I guess I bought out the store. Also...way too many regular shirts.
