Virgin Wool - Current Obsession 011

If it wasn't for  a stroke of genius back in the mid 1900s and the resulting 49r jacket that instantly became a hit, this post may not have happenned.

Why you ask??

Because it wasn't until 1949 that Clarence Bishop decided to take his family's business, Pendleton Woolen Mills, further into the apparel market with the introduction of women's clothing. With its start back in the mid to late 1800s, the original product was beautifully woven blankets used by Native Americans not only for warmth but as ceremonial garb with each print having a distinct meaning or tie to a specific cultural event. Soon thereafter, the company ventured into mens clothing seeing a need for less drab work shirts.  With its continued success it only made sense to venture into other apparel markets. Starting off with a simple jacket made out of their trademark wool, the instant success took Clarence by surprise and from there it was history.

And thank goodness it happened because I absolutely love the brand and although a Pendleton backpack would be perfect for a summer hike, the virgin wool used is naturally a friend of the Fall season.

The Classic Duffle - Current Obsession 010

Although a little bling goes a long way and we could all use a bit of sparkle, the roster over at the classic bag club has been growing steadily over the past year or so.  Gone are the days of those leopard print Juicy Couture statements and even Coach has offered up an array of understated leather bags that shine brighter than the logo emblazoned satchels we've known them for.  It seems we currently all sing in unison that luxe materials and clean silhouettes are better and it seems Hedi over at  Saint Laurent has answered with this amazing bag.

I have already come to see a world with a cross body strap and this LV Speedy shape is reminiscent of my amythest woven leather number from Cole Haan but something can be said about the simple and supple leather being offered up here.  With it's modest gold detailing, discreet branding and dual carrying options it seems like the Classic Duffle will find its way onto the arms of many others besides Gwyneth.

Unfortunately, at the tune of $2,650 it will not become a new addition in my closet but here's to a new obsession....

Current Obsession 009

It all started with a long day at work followed by a fresh cup of coffee with a piece of my homemade caramel (that adventure I promise will soon be posted) and a mini marathon of Alaska: The Last Frontier which calmed me down enough to deal with my rebellious laptop.  In such a good mood she was, I was able to catch up on my daily blog roll which ultimately led me to BLDG 25 and Solange's new video.  Inspired, uplifted and completely smitten I decided to do a bit of window shopping in search of flirty, fun looks that would work perfectly with all the new tights I plan on purchasing.

Anywho, have you seen the video....

 ELIZABETH AND JAMES SPRING 2013

To this day it still amazes me what sophistication Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen manage to churn out under their lines. The richly colored silks are divine and the softer shades touch that girly girl within me without pissing off the my inner tomboy thanks to the completely casual footwear.  Now you may not see me prancing around in a cropped, full leg pant but that draped maxi skirt, the slouchy pants and the royalty inspired purple shade (just to name a few) are definitely calling my name.

Ashley Knit Trimmed Wool Coat $399

First off lets start by taking time to celebrate the fact that its Friday and the weekend has finally arrived.  Now, if the past few nights steep temperature drop is any indication I am pretty sure Fall is right at our heels.  And by Fall I do mean crisp, crunchy leaves kind of Fall and not the brief moment in time we had last year. In preparation, I mentioned to the guy last night about really, really looking into a great coat for the season.  About 3 or 4 years ago I was introduced to Mackage at Saks and fell in love until I saw the price.  Then by chance a bunch dropped at the Off 5th Ave store around Black Friday and taking a chance I decided to wait till the kick off of the holiday season hoping I would be able to get it at a great price.  That didn't turn out as planned and they never restocked.  But it can't be a coincidence that today the goods dropped on Gilt.com (click on the link to shop).  I'm thinking its a sign and just incase you're having one of those "I swear someone's spying on me because this just isn't a coincidence" kind of moment then head on over and snag the coat of your dreams before it's gone.  My pick is the Ashley Knit Trimmed Wool Coat pictured above.

P.S.  They also have great wool peplum skirts, easy silk dresses and metallic herringbone dress pants.  Just in case you were dreaming of something else.....

Current Obsession 006

As seen on the runways of Suno, Burberry Prorsum and Kenzo, novelty sweaters have found themselves smack in the center of the Fall 2012 spotlight. No longer reserved for the Ugly Sweater Party thrown every year all over, quirky pictures of dogs, scenery or geometric prints are now acceptable on our cozy knits.  I, myself plan on hitting up a handful of second hand shops for mine this weekend.

And who knows...

If I make out some may end in the shop!!

Current Obsession 005

It's official, I have a new bauble crush and it just so happens to be anything Mawi. I love the refreshing modern design that screams rocker but would work equally as well with a shift dress
..
....
......probably a leather shift dress
........
..........atleast for me.  Anywho if you find yourself in need of small towel to dabble at the small amount of drool dribbling out the corner of your mouth have no fear, a decent amount of her stuff is now up for grabs on Gilt including those gorgeous earrings pictured above.

Happy Shopping!!
