Bag Hoarding - Shopping Diary 003

Tribal Gold Chain Necklace with Horn Tooth Pendant (HERE) and Woven Nude Leather Bracelet (HERE)

Rose Quartz Necklace (HERE) and Shades of Burgundy Mookaite Jasper Necklace (HERE)

Not that I needed a new handbag or two but when I saw these Lucky Brand goodies ring up at $14 a piece I couldn't resist. Not only did I grab these two but I led another to grab the remaining four bags.  The savings were ridiculous considering the book bag alone was originally $200. They are the perfect rustic touch to any Fall outfit and both work really well with some of the necklaces I've made for Naughty Baubles. I've already broken in the cross body bag but as for the book bag I think I may add a little DIY touch to it.  I love the embroidery and the horn bead fastener but the straps are a bit short for me.  I keep envisioning it with leather and chain straps and after looking at it more carefully the straps are actually two separate pieces so adding in some chain would be extremely simple.

Anywho, despite it being a gorgeous fall day I think I'll spend being extremely lazy with a few margaritas and some web stuff.  There seems to be a Bond marathon running and with an extremely busy  work week ahead of me I could use the down time.  Next weekend it's gonna be a hectic one.  My mom wants to brave a couple crazy sales for some new goods for the house and that will definitely require a couple shots of espresso.  I've noticed that my tolerance for crazy shopping days has diminished.  I blame it on early lunch break shopping around 11AM.  No one is out shopping at that time and I tend to be the only one in the store.  Plus I get first looks at the new merchandise as it comes out the back.  But my mom and I always have a good time out and this will be her first time checking out my store so it should make for an enjoyable day despite the chaos.

Hope everyone is having a great Sunday and hopefully all of my fellow east coasters have seen their power restored.  The hurricane was such devastating one and to know that another storm is on its way is quite depressing.  We were very fortunate considering the damage done to many of our area neighbors and I my heart goes out to those who are left with the daunting task of rebuilding and relocating.

Current Obsession 005

It's official, I have a new bauble crush and it just so happens to be anything Mawi. I love the refreshing modern design that screams rocker but would work equally as well with a shift dress
..
....
......probably a leather shift dress
........
..........atleast for me.  Anywho if you find yourself in need of small towel to dabble at the small amount of drool dribbling out the corner of your mouth have no fear, a decent amount of her stuff is now up for grabs on Gilt including those gorgeous earrings pictured above.

Happy Shopping!!

****Holding On - What I Wore****

Tank/Pants/Shoes - H&M, Necklace - Naughty Baubles, Bracelet/Ring - Vintage

Its the last day of vacation for me and I can feel the stormy gray cloud growing with the unwanted anticipation of returning to work.  Kinda blows but I do have tons of amazing memories from my 6 day escape.  I can't wait to upload and organize all the pics (I played tourist like never before switching between a few cameras and snapping away) and show you a couple of new pieces I brought home.  I also feel my creative block has been lifted (YAY!!) I can't wait to dive into a few DIYs and make a few new pieces.

As for the outfit pic, I, like so many others, fell head over heels for pastels this summer and after seeing these pants I couldn't resist.  I love the soft lilac shade mixed with the pale baby pink and shocking lemon but my only regret was not going down a size in the pants.  Like everything we wear, the twill pants stretched out a bit and now they are not so tight.  At the end of the day I ended up with way too much room for my comfort level in the crotch area and I kept getting the feeling that when I bent down a free panty show was going on. The last thing I want to be is the low-riding thong showing gal everyone snickers at so I may just have to grab another pair.

Hope your weekend was great and here's to happy Monday!!!!

****Sunday Casual 002 - What I Wore****

Outfit Details: Sweater-H&M, Denim Cut Off Shorts-Forever 21 (under $20 if you're interested..), Tassel Loafer Flats-BDG (similar pair here), Bag-Cole Haan, Jewelry-Naughty Baubles

The weather really perked up for me during my last few days of vacation and I definitely took the time to enjoy it. I probably say this every summer but living on the coast has its advantages.  I spent my Saturday and Sunday lounging in the yard with my Mom, taking long walks along this one stretch of coastline with huge houses and great views, developing a new obsession called Soul Calibur, making breakfast for my mom and best friend and I also did a little bar hopping Saturday night with the girls.  I took tons of pics that I promise to share soon and I still have some pictures to share from vacation.  Hope you guys had a great weekend and here's to a fast work week so we can all get back to the fun.

****Quick Fix - Reconstructed Vintage Boots DIY****

  • Laundry
  • Clean apartment
  • Closet audit
  • Prepack
  • Re-Prepack
  • Completely change mind on what to pack and feel compelled to buy a whole new wardrobe just for the week
This pretty much sums up my week as I get ready for vacation.  Come Saturday, I'm off for a 5 day break from reality and time is just not moving fast enough for me.  After organizing and then destroying my closet in search of what to pack, I not only realized that I don't have any casual boots in any color besides black but..in the back of my closet I discovered a pair of forgotten boots that would be absolutely perfect if it wasn't for the mid-calf height.  No worries though, I managed to fix it before my last load of clothes finished drying and now my "new" boots are getting ready for a vacation themselves.

WHAT YOU NEED
  • Old pair of boots
  • Scissors
  • Invisible thread
  • Needle
WHAT TO DO:
  •   Snip (making sure the zipper is all the way down)
  • Zip up as high as it will go as a measure to see where to begin sewing
  • Using the invisible thread, sew the two ends together going over the teeth.  This will make sure the zipper won't come off while you're wearing it so go ahead sew a few extra stitches
How easy was that?!?! I literally saved myself $50 that can now go towards all the amazing seafood I plan on eating in Newport, RI.

Hope your week's going great and see you next post!!!

Oh and just a small note about the boots.  I got them from Payless almost 10 years ago.  I was visiting my parents in Virginia Beach and at that time I had the hardest time finding high boots that would fit over my calves.  When I tried them on and the fit, I bought them on that alone.  I ended up getting a lot of where out them but what still gets me is that they are from Payless.  Everyone is so quick to judge about the quality of their goods but these shoes have held up better than quite a lot of other brands I own and paid much more for.  Price does not equal quality and that is something people often forget...

****Fashion Staples - What I Wore****

(shredded button down - DIY, leather leggings - XXI, boots - H&M, necklace - Naughty Baubles, clutch - Cole Haan)

I just can't seem to stop wearing my  DIY distressed denim shirt(If you want to learn how to make one for yourself) and leather leggings. Its made such a huge impression on what I enjoy wearing lately I just bought a few more men's button downs from Denim & Supply.  Apparently I've found my Spring staples and after doing a little spring cleaning I also managed to rediscover a necklace I made almost two years ago. Stay tuned as this twisted chain necklace may just find its way onto my Etsy Shop...

On a sad note, my phone was taken at work and its looking like my weekend will be without instant Pinterest/Tumbler/Gmail/Blogger updates, a whole slew of numbers I can't remember and I'm quite sure a bit of other information still unknown that I may one day need.  Insurance is replacing the phone to the tune of $125 but I still feel doubly violated.....nothing is ever easy when it comes to insurance

Anywho, its Saturday and that's reason enough to celebrate.  Enjoy it!!!

****Sun Deprived - What I Wore****

Hat/Scarf/Boots - H&M, Cardigan/Shorts - XXI, Necklaces - Naughty Baubles

All week the weather was absolutely amazing.  It was sunny, warm and just gorgeous.  Then..Then as soon as I get my two days off (after what has to be one of the worst weeks since the holiday season) all I get is gloom.  SERIOUSLY?!?!?!

Outside of the horrible weather, I did manage to get some seriously relaxation in.  Went home to visit my parents, checked out the thrift store nearby and scored some great pieces (mostly for my upcoming DIY projects) and a few vintage pieces for Etsy all of which I will share later on this week, and most importantly I was able to sleep in a bit and catch up on Law & Order reruns and hours worth of Mars exploration documentaries...a guilty pleasure of mine.

Hope you all had a great weekend!!!!!

****Set It And Forget It - DIY****

Its Monday afternoon, I got out of work at 5AM this morning and I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that even with four items on a shelf, an associate can still manage to count it wrong.

MIND BOGGLING

So with that, I can't be bothered with to much mind usage today meaning a very simple DIY post that I'm in love with.  Its as easy as the title suggests and similar to that infamous infomercial.  Shall we..

YOUR LIST:
  • Stones (various sizes will look best I think and I used dyed howlite)
  • Plain cuff
  • E-6000
  • Thin gauge gold wire
DO THIS:
  • Add a dab of glue on to the stones and position on cuff
  • Let this sit overnight
  • Once dry wrap with wire and tuck end underneath stones(wrapping it around itself) or inside bead holes
  • Wear out and accept compliments like a pro
I told you it was simple. Now I'm probably gonna go back to sleep for a bit before I have to go back to work.

P.S. I'm offering FREE SHIPPING on Etsy purchases shipping within the US if you like Naughty Baubles on Facebook!!!!

***I Can't Live Without...****

Sweater-H&M, Hat-Simply Vera(Kohls), Sequin Tank-MM Couture, Shorts-XXI, Boots-Steve Madden, Scarf-H&M, Ring-DIY, Bracelet-DIY

Things I currently can't live without:
  • My slouchy knit hat....literally I've worn it so much over the last couple of years that it is beginning to fall apart but unfortnately the Simply Vera line at Kohls hasn't restocked this baby since so...
  • My high waisted denim shorts
  • My super long and soft scarf
  • My large ram head DIY ring
  • The super adorable kitten trio that was just recently introduced into my neighborhood.  The mother is deathly afraid of people making it even more difficult to pet the kittens but me and boyfriend have been slipping them tuna every once in awhile so hopefully they see us as a friend and I can hold one.  I really would love to see the whole family in a great home (we can't have pets in our complex and my boyfriend is slightly allergic so I can't take them in) but many of the shelters in the area aren't accepting adult cats and I would never break up the family.  I just check up on them everyday and make sure they are doing well.  I will definitely snap some pictures soon to show you :)
  • The smell of fall in my hair...crisp, clean and fresh
  • Saving the best for last my boyfriend. Shared a great mini back road trip with him yesterday which is our favorite thing to do and it was just what I needed...down time with my best friend
Hope everyone had a great weekend and is currently cozied up and resting in preparation for another long week.  I am currently enjoying my Black Friday steal of a coffee pot that was only $7 after my discount. Although it makes 12 cups we still find ourselves needing more by the afternoon which is probably not the best thing but oh well.  New DIY posts coming this week and don't forget to check out the SHOP NAUGHTY AND SAVE  happening on my Etsy shop.

See ya next post...
