The Weekenders - What I Wore

Quick escape out of town this weekend to celebrate the beginning of fall. Luckily I stopped by H&M and snagged some sweaters because despite the clear skies and bright sun, the breeze off the water was definitely brisk.  I'm really interested in cozy dressing right now so printed leggings and oversized sweaters have been in heavy rotation. I beg you not to call me lazy but with the pumpkin spice lattes now available and all the September mags stacking up, my body just wants curl up and get lost in glossy pages.

Anywho, everytime we go to Newport I always discover something new Ans this time it was an incredible spice, sugar and tea store. Not only did it fit perfectly with my hibernation state of mind but it happened to be exactly what I was in search of for the wedding. And on that note I am officially going for a vineyard wedding. The venue idea has been quite a debate and after tossing up a few ideas me and the Guy have finally settled. Now I just have to find one that's not already booked....LOL

Hope your Monday is going well and here's to the weekend!!!!

The Escape 003 - Vacation Diaries

Sunset drinks at Castle Hill, trespassing (again) onto cool locations, foraging vintage shops, more cocktails on boats, enjoying my new favorite dessert (for the 3rd time while on vacation) and discovering new boutiques like Kristina Richards with an amazing shop-able shoe closet and cozy man chairs.

****The Escape 002 - Vacation Diaries****

t h e  h i g h l i g h t s :
  • Walks filled with color from interesting moss covered rocks to bountiful amounts of gorgeous hydrangeas
  • Loving the fact that we never had to order an entree because the appetizers were so big
  • A little light trespassing (onto one location in particular I will talk about later)
  • Finding the cutest stickers at the coolest skate stores
  • Realizing everyone has it wrong in not painting their  door hot pink and wondering if it is considering a lease violation if I paint our apartment door that exact color
  • Discovering the best dessert ever at Speakeasy - Creme Brulee with Banana Fritters  YUM!!
  • Advoiding being taken advantage of at the plethora of Lush-like bath/beauty shops that popped up out of no where.  I'm sorry, $65 for a bottle of lotion is completely absurd
  • A never ending variety of bars to stop in and grab a quick drink...to bad no one's turned a boat into a party boat.  Yeah there were all sorts of yachts docked in the harbor but something a lot less exclusive. We all can't afford a lovely boat called Trustfund Baby (yep thats what one sexy yacht was named) and how awesome would it be to hop on a boat at midnight and party it up till 8am listening to techno. Oh yeah, maritime law does not declare you stop the liquor flow at the same time as their fellow patrons stationed on land.
  • And yes, that one picture of a house is actually one that someones lives in. Probably only in the summer but it could very well be their everyday abode....gotta love Ocean Drive

****Call Me Kitty - What I Wore

Blouse - H&M, Shorts - Bar III, Necklace - Naughty Baubles, Bag - RACHEL Rachel Roy, Bracelet/Ring - Vintage, Shoes - H&M

I couldn't stop wearing these two pieces over vacation.  The leopard print blouse is absolutely perfect.  A bit oversized and pretty sheer, this was a last minute by before we left and I'm glad I snagged it.  As for the shorts I've been eyeing them for a while at my job and then finally they went down so I new I had to grab them fast.  With 85 degree weather and some pretty humid days, this combo worked so well for in keeping me cool.  Plus it worked weather we went to the beach, went for a walk or a boat ride (all of which we did this day to be exact).  The shorts also come in a cool large scale floral print and I'm contemplating whether or not I need those two...guess we'll just have to see.

On a completely separate note can I just give these flats a round of applause. Not only did they last the entire trip but we walked at least 15 miles (although my fiance swears it was much more than that) the whole week with part of that including some light rock climbing. Plus I never slipped getting on or off the boats.  Completely thrilled about that...LOL

****The Escape - Vacation Diaries****

Lots of eating, lots of walking (to burn off what we ate), a dash of trespassing and lots of washing the day down with great cocktails.  We always have a blast in Newport and no matter how many times we go it always feels like our first trip.  There is well over a hundred photos so there's so much more to show you once I stop being lazy and grab the other camera out of bag (these were all taken with my camera phone).
