Like A Doll - What I Wore

Skater Dress - H&M (similar dress HERE), Belt - Vintage, Earrings - Naughty Baubles (buy HERE), Shoes - H&M, Bracelet - Vintage
Having bought this dress a few weeks before we left for Newport and never once taking it out of the bag, I figured vacation would be an excellent chance to either wear it or return it.  I had been searching high and low for a skater dress after seeing Karen of Where Did U Get That rock a leopard version (see it HERE) and after a few unsuccessful fitting room adventures I found one with a perfect fit and length.  The only problem was the color....I wasn't quite sold.  However after pairing it with a vintage belt given to me by Great Aunt, my new favorite stud earrings that I made and prancing around all day I have to say I'm glad I caved in and bought it.

****Python Print and Fringe - What I Wore****

TANK TOP - H&M, SNAKESKIN SHORTS - RACHEL Rachel Roy (Similar HERE ), FRINGE BOOTS - Steve Madden (Find HERE), JEWELRY - Naughty Baubles and Vintage

And yes, these are the RACHEL Rachel Roy shorts that inspired my last post.  I'm guessing they weren't meant to be worn so high up on the waist but right not just about everything I wear needs to be highwaisted so with the gentle touch of a safety pin neatly concealed on the side, I managed to pin them to my liking.  Although some would have moved me away from a purchase that required a bit of adjusting in order for me to like them, the price was way to good to pass up coming in at almost 75% off.  Paired simply with black top,  a necklace, quartz ring and bracelet I made a little while ago and a vintage gold and ivory cuff given to me by mom I had the perfect look for the humid weekend. Oh  and we can't forget my new favorite boots.  Another great deal I couldn't pass up.

Hope everyone had a great 4th of July and here's to the up coming weekend.

P.S.  And speaking of RACHEL Rachel Roy, lets all congratulate Black Asphodel who was the winner of my handbag giveaway!!!!

****Pastels and Parties - What I Wore****

Cropped Sweater - H&M (Similar HERE and HERE), Sheer Aqua Shorts - H&M (Similar HERE and HERE), Necklace - Naughty Baubles, Wedges - Steve Madden "Winery"

So the weekend was a change from the usual pace.  It started with dinner out with family and friends, about midway through it I had the pleasure of escorting a 2yr old to the beach who informed me I could not tell her what to do (in the most certain and polite way possible it was too cute) and found myself using the age old tactic of bribery (and to think I said I would never use it with my own kids but its looking like when the family does start I will be right along with most other parents), and ended with me in less than pleasant circumstances after a night of partying. After taking Sunday off to recoup and work on Monday, I find myself with today off and not to much on my plate...except for buying a new lamp for the bedroom, that's a priority.

Anywho, I've been really good with shopping yet again making sure that whatever I get works with what I have and so last week after constantly complaining about needing another pair of flowy short (I can't wear my blue dotted ones everytime) I came across these sheer aquamarine colored ones at H&M.  The only size left was a bit to big to wear on high on my waist so I ended up having to pin it with a safety till I can take it in.  They were just too cute to let go and I desperately wanted to wear them so I made it work.

On the wedding planning bit, I mentioned on twitter that I was pretty sure I found my colors but outside of my bouquet I'm not sure how to incorporate them all.  Realizing how expensive all the magazines are and ignoring my urge for tangible inspiration, I've really scoured the web day in and day out pinning any and everything that interests me.  After taking a look over the images its pretty apparent that I'm swaying towards a vintage-esque wedding which happens to be pretty huge trend right now.  I'm just really trying to figure out how to translate that into something more personal.  Luckily I have some really great help so I know no matter what the wedding is going to be great.

Hopefully your weekend was just as fun and here's to the next one in 3 days....

****New In Shop****

Took some time this weekend to make a few new pieces.  All three are now up for grabs on NaughtyBaubles and I am working on a few more for later on this week. Despite the warm weather just kicking in, I'm already working on my Fall pieces.  Think heavier chains, richer colors and texture to go along with all our new sheath dresses, fur accented and glitter infused pieces.

On another note for those of you who used Picnik to edit your photos for free. After the close of the site I wasn't exactly sure what I was going to do.  Although learning Photoshop is definitely something that I need to do, when it comes to listing items on Etsy, I really just want something quick and easy.  Thankfully I ran into PicMonkey.  It operates pretty similar to Picnik but offers an easy to use collage option...just click and drag.  I will definitely being using this for outfit posts in the near future.

****Shop Talk****

The Blog Shop is now on Big Cartel.  It just makes sense and it appears to be much easier to use. As much as I love Etsy, I've been encountering issues with people not really wanting to sign up to shop and I am hoping the simpler check out process with Big Cartel will please.  Slowly I will begin to send over many of the items already up for grabs elsewhere but for now these two lovelies are up and ready for his mommy...LOL

To see the new home, just click on the link "SHOP" and enjoy

****SnapShots 001****

The funny thing about this top is that as much as I love it, and I really do love it, I tend to wear it more around the house than outside.  In fact I think it has only had to rather short debuts outside the confines of our apartment.  Baffling really.  As for the ring, after being inspired by the photo below I remembered one of the many pieces I picked up on a sourcing trip recently and whipped it up.  Hopefully this new favored piece actually gets to see the outside more than my favorite shirt....

****The Silent Meow****

From the falling temps on Friday night leaving us severely chilled to the bone, to the all day snow storm Saturday, to the random flu like symptoms starting late Saturday and complete melt down on Sunday, Halloween just didn't happen as planned.  I did manage to check out the best haunted trail ever on Friday night so atleast I can say I did something festive but as for dressing up and going out....well it was a completely flop.  Even with the option on Monday night, after slipping dramatically on ice on my way to the car earlier that morning spilling my coffee allllllllllll over me the last thing on my mind was an overcrowded club.

With that said I still felt like putting on my costume in the celebration of the thought of Halloween and partaking in the festivities so heres to it....LOL

Jacket - XXI, Shredded Tank - DIY, Leggings - XXI, Shoes - Steve Madden, Necklace - DIY

And I would also like to formally introduce you to my latest addition to the shoe closet...Despite the JC undertones, they are Steve Maddens and I got them for a steal at work after the discount.  These babies alone were worth getting all dolled up for nothing...

Oh and the necklace was made last week after my NYC trip(which reminds me I have a handful of pics that I never posted).  I found a few new amazing bead stores with so many goodies I literally had to smack my hand every time I saw another amazing bauble.  The pendant is bone and was so fitting for the costume I whipped it up the very next day.  I may tweak it a bit but get used to seeing it in just about every outfit post for a while...hehe
